Oh, shoot! and “Aaaragh!

DISASTER!

No, not really.  It could have been though.  If you’ll check the 5-min chart I’m working on you’ll notice that it was about 9:45am that the market started rising.  It was about 9:40am that I lost my trade software connection and it was out to me for about an hour.

I was looking at a gain to $2.00 from $1.42 and then BLAM!, no feed.  I could have panicked.  I could have rebooted, checked my firewall, scanned for conflicts with the other software that was running, ran around yelling things like, “Oh, shoot!” and “Aaaragh!”.  I could have and I did.  And in the end, I just had to trust that when the connection was restored that the option wasn’t totally in the tank. It wasn’t.

Now, it has made up a little lost ground and then continued it’s decline.  However, I’m still using my technical indicators to show me when to get out of this option and they are telling me to stay in.  At least I don’t need to panic.  Aaaragh!  I gotta go.

Just kidding.

Moral?  Like a Boy Scout; always be prepared.
