Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s going to be a very quiet Thanksgiving this year. At least around here. You see, we’ve already cooked a turkey. It’s something that we don’t wait for Thanksgiving to do.

We’re also living catty-corner across the state of James T. Kirk‘s future hometown and just around the corner from Tatooine. So it seems. There isn’t a lot to do around here if you’re not a farmer. That is why we moved here. That and high-speed internet.

Working out of home allows me to miss the morning rush-hour which around here is all of about 10 minutes. It also saves us from going shopping. The largest sign of civilization (a large shopping mall) is an hour and a half away.

These descriptions aren’t sour grapes. We chose the location we live in for just these reasons; a quiet town small enough to hear ourselves think, centrally located to 3 major airports, and it has high-speed internet.

It’s also the town that gave Samuel Clemens (a.k.a.: Mark Twain) his literary start and has some of the best home-style cooks this side of the Mississippi river.

Life doesn’t get much better than this. Though my beloved Sue and I miss our families very much, they are all safe, healthy, well-fed, and loved. We have much to be thankful for.

Sue and I hope that Thanksgiving Day finds you and your families as well off.

Happy Thanksgiving! A wish from the heartland directly to you.
